This is typically the time when NCAA Woman of the Year nominees are announced. However, the award, along with many others, will not be presented going forward.
The NCAA Board of Governors has directed all three divisions to sunset the Awards Committee, meaning awards presented at the NCAA Convention, including Woman of the Year, will cease “due to budget considerations and member feedback.” The Elite Scholar-Athlete Award, which honors the student-athlete with the highest GPA at NCAA championships, will be tailored toward year-round “storytelling.”
Curious what the member feedback was surrounding a program that highlights student-athlete achievements.
