NHL Rumors: DeBrusk, Pettersson, Raddysh, Carlson, Zacha, Hischier, Thomas, Benn, and Ovechkin

NHL Rumors: DeBrusk, Pettersson, Raddysh, Carlson, Zacha, Hischier, Thomas, Benn, and Ovechkin

At least four teams have shown interest in Jake DeBrusk

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period: 29-year-old Jake DeBrusk isn’t interested in a Vancouver Canucks rebuild. He has five years left on his deal at $5.5 million, and a full no-movement clause.

The Ottawa Senators, Seattle Kraken, Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets are among the teams that have shown some interest.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period: There is some belief around the league that the Vancouver Canucks might be willing to retain some salary in an Elias Pettersson. That’s not saying they will retain a large portion, but if they drop the $11.6 million down a bit, it would help. Would they go as low as getting it $8.6 million and would that help facilitate a move. The Sedin’s want to work with Pettersson to see if they can get him going again.

NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames Want to Add Young NHL Players

Quick hits on the Lightning, Raddysh, Carlson, Zacha, Hischier, Thomas, Benn, and Ovechkin

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: Get the sense that Tampa Bay Lightning GM Julien BriseBois didn’t think Darren Raddysh’s sample size was big enough to award him a big contract like he got from the Maple Leafs. BriseBois didn’t get close in term or money to the eight-year, $8.5 million.

Expect the Lightning to be interested in defenseman John Carlson. Think there will be five Eastern teams after Carlson.

The Boston Bruins are listening to calls on center Pavel Zacha. He’s got one year left on his contract at $4.75 million and will be after big raise after his 30 goal, 35 assist season. Extending is a priority for the Bruins, but if talks don’t go well, they’ll consider offers. He has an eight-team no-trade list, that was submitted to the Bruins on April 1st.

A Nico Hischier extension can’t be finalized until July 1st, but it seems like the bulk of it it done. The New Jersey Devils had been looking long-term, Hischier short-term, and they may be meeting in the middle.

It’s sounding like incoming St. Louis Blues GM Alex Steen doesn’t intend to trade center Robert Thomas.

NHL Rumors: Jets, Panthers, Flyers, Canadiens, and Senators

Dallas Stars Jamie Benn is a pending UFA and it’s expected that he’ll sign a similar one-year, $1 million base salary with bonuses.

The Washington Capitals aren’t putting any pressure on Alex Ovechkin, who is expected to make a decision on next year, sometime in July.
