Nigel Benn reveals who he wants his son to fight next

Conor Benn made his return to the ring on Saturday, five months on from when he beat Chris Eubank Jr in their rematch.

Both of Benn’s last fights against Eubank Jr took place at welterweight, and he has started to make his way back down in weight.

He took on two-time world champion Regis Prograis at a catchweight of 150lbs, a weight neither man had fought at prior.

‘The Destroyer’ got the win over 10 rounds, with many having different views on his performance.

Following the win, his opponent Prograis has confirmed he carried some major injuries into the contest and made a damning confession about his thoughts going into the fight. He spoke to The Ring Magazine.

“Going in, I knew I was going to retire.

“This is my last fight. I knew this months ago – I just didn’t tell anybody, but I was terrified going into this.

“It’s a great fight to be my last, against someone like Conor Benn, someone that was strong, in an arena like this with 70,000 in a stadium.

“I couldn’t ask for a better going-away party, perfect end to my story.”

Prograis also continued to confirm that he was even thinking of pulling out of the fight just hours before he made his ring walk.

“The rumours about me being hurt were true. I wanted to pull out of this fight so bad a month ago, but kept pushing.

“I was terrified and thinking about pulling out even yesterday.”

His father, Nigel Benn, spoke to Pro Boxing Fans and revealed he wants to see his son fight for a world title next.

“Whoever they have got lined up.

“Rolly [Rolando Romero], [Ryan] Garcia.

“I am happy for him to fight any of them.

“Now he is back at his weight, you will see the best side of Conor.”
