Last night’s NXT saw the fallout of Stand and Deliver continue as WWE’s developmental program entered Week 1 of NXT Revenge. NXT Revenge is a 2-week event that nestles the CW Network standout in between WrestleMania week festivities. Coming out of a month’s worth of high-stakes shows, it’s becoming clear who WWE is earmarking for post-WrestleMania main roster call-ups. Here are four of the top NXT stars being groomed for call-ups after WrestleMania.
Jacy Jayne
The leader of Fatal Influence is said to be the most likely NXT star to receive a call-up after WrestleMania. It’s believed that the April 14th edition of NXT was the last appearance for Jacy Jayne in NXT. Rumors are swirling that the former NXT Women’s Champion could be present at the Raw or SmackDown after WrestleMania.
The 2-time Women’s Champion has been pivotal in getting the next crop of NXT female Superstars ready. She started the year off in a rivalry with rising star Kendal Grey. This feud evolved to include Lola Vice. At Stand and Deliver, Lola Vice pinned Jacy Jayne in a Triple Threat Match that also included Grey to win the Women’s Title.
Jacy Jayne would get her rematch against Lola Vice during Week 1 of NXT Revenge. Once more, the AAA cross-over star got the better of Jacy Jayne. Many fans on hand for both Stand and Deliver and Revenge noted that Jacy Jayne was emotional leaving the ringside. They took it as her saying goodbye to her home at NXT.
Joe Hendry
Joe Hendry was another former NXT World Champion who’s been doing the honors these past few weeks. The musician lost his Title at Stand and Deliver to Tony D’Angelo in a Fatal Four-Way Match that also featured Ricky Saints and Ethan Page. Much like future WWE main roster member Jacy Jayne, Hendry took the fall in his multi-man Title loss.
During NXT Revenge Week 1, Joe Hendry treated the crowd to an acoustic performance. The former NXT Champion showcased doubt about his future following his Title loss and teased a new chapter in his life. This inclusion caused a stir among the NXT Universe that Joe Hendry will be making a main roster debut soon.
That said, Joe Hendry is expected to pull double duty or will have a bit of a delay on his way to Raw or SmackDown. The former TNA Champion was interrupted by Keanu Carver.
Joe Hendry attempted to take the big man out with a guitar shot, but it made no impact. Instead, Carver beat him to a bloody pulp and left the beloved songwriter in a heap. Keanu Carver is expected to go over Joe Hendry before the latter transitions to the WWE roster full-time.
Ethan Page
Ever since leaving AEW, Ethan Page has hit a home run in the WWE ecosystem. His run as the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions with Chelsea Green was a huge success. Plus, his runs as the NXT North American Champion have cemented the Title’s credibility and made a star out of Myles Borne.
Over the last few months, All Ego has created a partnership with Ricky Saints. The two have teased some slight dissension, especially heading into Stand and Deliver, as they both challenged Joe Hendry for the NXT Championship. Unfortunately for the former AEW stars, Tony D’Angelo picked up the W.
Ethan Page tried to right this perceived wrong by challenging The Don of NXT one-on-one during Week 1 of Revenge. New Champ Tony D’Angelo put Ethan Page out to pasture with the Dead to Rights.
While Ethan Page is expected to be a part of post-WrestleMania call-ups, there is some hesitation. Not only does the CW Network love him, but he hasn’t had his blow off with Ricky Saints yet. It’s unknown if the two will get to finish up their storyline or if the WWE will save it for the main roster.
Sol Ruca
WWE has already soft-launched Sol Ruca as a member of the main roster, as she’s received some screen time on SmackDown. Sol Ruca also participated in a match during Saturday Night’s Main Event at the behest of John Cena, who was retiring that night.
Sol Ruca was an unlikely partner to Zaria, with the two women seeing a lot of success together. However, Zaria recently turned her back on her ZaRuca teammate. The two finally had an epic battle at Stand and Deliver, with Sol Ruca claiming the victory.
Zaria vs. Sol Ruca is going down one more time, as the former Tag Team will face off during NXT Revenge Week in a Last Woman Standing Match.
Many believe this will be Sol Ruca’s final NXT match before her main roster call-up. Rumors are that Sol Ruca is SmackDown-bound. So, she could appear on the SmackDown after WrestleMania.
However, her boyfriend is on the Raw roster. This separation might play a role in the final decision for Sol Ruca’s brand. We’ll have to wait and see what happens during the call-ups after WrestleMania 42!
Is Blake Monroe Among Call-Ups After WrestleMania?
There have been discussions among WWE Creative about bringing Blake Monroe to the main roster. However, it seems like those talks have cooled down. Some trainers believe that the former Mariah May could use another year in development to nail her character work and moveset.
Recently, Blake Monroe has become aligned with Evolve alumni in The Vanity Project. The former North American Women’s Champion has enlisted the help of these three young heartthrobs to help her regain the Championship from its newest holder, Tatum Paxley. Blake Monroe will challenge Tatum Paxley for the Women’s North American Championship at NXT Revenge Week 2 next week.
The Vanity Project-Blake Monroe partnership has been seen as a success on NXT television. Therefore, WWE will likely let this storyline play out before Blake Monroe gets her main roster call-up.
The Mog Squad Rumors: Blake Monroe and The Vanity Project
WWE recently trademarked the name The Mog Squad. There is speculation that this might be the name for the new Blake Monroe-Vanity Project faction. “Mog” comes from AMOG, which stands for Alpha Male of the Group.
Gen Alpha uses “moging” to describe when a person outshines another. That would be the perfect way to describe the narcissistic pairing of Blake Monroe and The Vanity Project. However, whether this foursome is The Mog Squad remains to be seen.
