OM2 and firmness | Asian Turfgrass Center

Last December I collected OM246 samples from six greens at a 27 hole facility—two greens from each nine. This course has been rebuilding greens nine holes at a time, which is a great way to establish a gradient of total organic material at the surface of the greens. I didn’t have time to collect surface hardness data with my Clegg hammer in December. Yesterday I brought my Clegg and made those measurements.

What you see in the chart above are OM2 (total organic material at the 0–2 cm depth) data from December and surface hardness (firmness) measurements from June 1.

Playability is affected by the OM246. Trying to keep the OM246 as consistent as possible from green to green will produce the most consistent playing surfaces.
