Original Grande Americano is no more, as the star was unmasked in an all-time classic match at AAA’s Noche de Los Grande event.
In a Mask vs. Mask match at the event, both Original and El Grande Americano put everything on the line. The match itself was a stunning main event, delivering in several ways and ending with the crowd going absolutely wild. Unfortunately for Original El Grande Americano, though, he would have to unmask himself. The star lost after taking a charging headbutt from El Grande, but not after chaos had occurred.
Throughout the match, both stars took the fight everywhere, including up the entrance ramp, into the stands, and even got a mariachi band involved, as Pimpinela Escarlta disguised himself as a band member to get in the fray. After the loss, Original was joined by his wife and three children, and then unmasked to reveal none other than Chad Gable.
With chants of “Shorty G” raining down on him, Gable said that he’ll always be the original despite the loss. However, he was no longer El Grande, as that title belonged to the winner. Gable said he didn’t know when he’d be back, but he will be back in AAA at some point, and handed over his mask as the crowd chanted his name.
The match and night ended with El Grande Americano slowly making his way up the ramp. The mariachi band played for him as the crowd cheered.
