Preview: BARC – OC Open Wheel Invitational

The BARC – OC Open Wheel Invitational is set to deliver an exciting weekend of pure open-wheel racing at one of Canada’s most iconic circuits. Presented by the British Automobile Racing Club – Ontario Centre (BARC-OC) and organized under the CASC Ontario Region, this dedicated event takes place on July 25–26, 2026, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on the renowned Grand Prix track. An optional test day is available on July 24 for those seeking extra seat time.

This Invitational stands out as a focused celebration of open-wheel competition, bringing together a diverse range of classes. Drivers and teams benefit from generous track time in a streamlined format: practice, qualifying, and three 25-minute races per group, totaling 115 minutes of on-track time across the weekend. The optional CTMP test day adds 2.5 hours of additional practice for fine-tuning setups.

The event welcomes a broad spectrum of open-wheel machinery, grouped into six run categories to accommodate everything from vintage classics to more modern formula cars:

• Toyo F1600

Venue: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park – Grand Prix Track

Few North American circuits match the heritage and challenge of CTMP’s GP layout. Originally opened in 1961 as Mosport Park, the 3.957 km (2.459 mi), 10-turn road course remains largely true to its original design. It features dramatic elevation changes, high-speed sweepers, and technical corners that test driver skill and car setup alike. The track has hosted everything from vintage events to professional series, making it an ideal venue for open-wheel machinery.

Additional Highlights

• Spectators are welcome and can purchase weekend tickets directly through CTMP.
• Racer registration is open via MotorsportReg HERE. The entry fee is $760 CAD for the race weekend, covering the full program.
