Randy Orton’s time away from WWE just got a little more interesting because The Viper is no longer set for his advertised Fanatics Fest NYC appearance.
Fanatics Fest announced on June 26, 2026, that Orton is “no longer able to appear” at next month’s event in New York City. They did not give a reason, but fans who paid for his appearance are being offered refunds or exchanges, which at least softens the blow for anyone hoping to meet The Viper.
The timing is what makes this one interesting. Orton has been off WWE programming since WrestleMania 42, where he challenged Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, came up short, and then brutally attacked Rhodes after the match. Since then, he has stayed away from TV, and reports of a lingering back issue only made fans more nervous about what is really going on.
Randy Orton previously laughed off the panic online, making it sound like everyone needed to calm down because he was just enjoying his summer before coming back for another title run.

He has not been completely hidden, though. A recent photo showed Orton attending his daughter’s graduation ceremony, proudly standing with her as she celebrated the milestone. So while fans have not seen him dropping RKOs on WWE TV, he has clearly been spending some important time with family during his break.
Still, getting pulled from Fanatics Fest is going to raise eyebrows. No reason was given, so fans are left to guess whether this is tied to his WWE absence, the reported back issue, scheduling, or something totally unrelated. Either way, it is another update that keeps Orton’s return status in question.
For now, Randy Orton remains off WWE television and off the Fanatics Fest NYC lineup. The Viper may be enjoying life away from the ring, but every cancellation and every public sighting only makes fans wonder when he is finally going to strike again.
