With their third 3rd round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the New York Rangers selected center Tomas Chrenko. Chrenko was ranked very high, so getting him at 81st overall is tremendous value and a true high ceiling bet by the Rangers. Chrenko was one of the best centers left and was originally projected to be a late first round pick. He’s very skilled and a true center, addressing a huge need for the Blueshirts with a nice infusion of speed and skill.
Chrenko is a phenomenal skater and has a high offensive ceiling. He’s already playing in Extraliga in Slovakia amongst men, so he’s showing off his skill against grown adults. His 9-22-31 in 44 games in his second (!) second in Extraliga bodes quite well for his transition to the NHL. He’s another big swing on ceiling.
