K’Von Wallace stopped by the Minnesota Vikings last summer before ending up with the Houston Texans, and now he’ll try on a different AFC team for size, signing with the Baltimore Ravens this week.
Wallace never played a regular season snap for Minnesota, but his next stop comes with a Super Bowl contender.
Like most free-agent additions at this time on the calendar, Wallace will vie for a 53-man roster spot this summer.
Baltimore Adds More Competition to Its Safety Room
The Ravens might be a decent fit for Wallace.
BAL Signs Wallace
SI.com‘s Josh Reed explained the context of Wallace to Baltimore on Tuesday, “The safety position is one of the most important and integral to the success and flexibility of the Baltimore Ravens defensive scheme under first-year head coach Jesse Minter. While they are all set with at the top of the depth chart with three-time All Pro Kyle Hamilton, 2025 first-rounder Malaki Starks and prized free agent addition Jaylinn Hawkins, they lacked experienced and quality depth behind.”
“After opting not to select a safety with one of the team’s 11 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft late last month, general manager Eric DeCosta addressed the underrated need ahead of the Ravens’ next session of Organized Team Activities by signing veteran K’Von Wallace.”
Wallace will now hope the roster maths bends in his favor late in August.
Wallace’s Career to Date
After being cut by the Giants on August 24, 2025, Wallace was signed by the Vikings and added to their practice squad. Former general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah viewed him as a veteran option to help solidify the back end of their defense.
Wallace remained on the practice squad for two months before the Vikings released him on October 28th. Though he never reached the active roster or played a snap, his initial signing made strategic sense: he provided emergency depth while Harrison Smith recovered from an undisclosed injury throughout August and September.
Once Smith returned to full health, Wallace’s path to the active roster became even narrower. With a crowded safety room already featuring Smith, Josh Metellus, Theo Jackson, Jay Ward, and Tavierre Thomas, there was no longer a clear role for him.
Two weeks after his release from Minnesota, Houston signed Wallace to its practice squad. Remarkably, he was starting for the Texans a month later, albeit temporarily.
At 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, Wallace is a compact and durable player with a proven track record. The Virginia native has demonstrated his value on both defense and special teams, playing in 73 games with 19 starts over five seasons. His career numbers — one interception, 177 tackles, over 1,500 defensive snaps, and nearly 1,000 special teams snaps — illuminate his reliability.
This is the resume for the former 4th-Rounder:
- Philadelphia Eagles (2020–2022)
- Arizona Cardinals (2023)
- Tennessee Titans (2023)
- Seattle Seahawks (2024)
- New York Giants (2025)
- Minnesota Vikings (2025)
- Houston Texans (2025)
- Baltimore Ravens (2026-now)
The Ravens’ Safeties
Led by the great Kyle Hamilton — whom Vikings fans insist to this day should play for Minnesota if the aforementioned Adofo-Mensah knew what he was doing — these are the Ravens’ safeties with Wallace in the mix:
- Kyle Hamilton
- Malaki Starks
- Keondre Jackson
- Jaylinn Hawkins
- Silas Walters
- Jahquez Robinson
- K’Von Wallace
Wallace will truly have to strut his stuff at training camp to make the regular season roster cut amid that group.
Baltimore Beatdown‘s Nikhil Mehta on the Wallace addition: “Wallace’s time in Seattle gives him some familiarity with Jesse Minter’s defensive scheme, which has many commonalities with Macdonald’s system. His special teams experience may give him a better chance at making the 53-man roster.”
