Real Madrid´s Endrick unsure on life after Lyon once loan spell ends

Lyon loanee Endrick conceded he is unsure about his future with Real Madrid once his loan deal expires with the Ligue 1 side at the end of the season.

Endrick has found his feet with Paulo Fonseca’s team, having joined them in December after falling out of favour under previous Madrid boss, Xabi Alonso.

Since making his debut for Lyon, the 19-year-old has registered seven goals and seven assists in 18 appearances across all competitions, totals only Ousmane Dembele and Mason Greenwood (both 15) can better among Ligue 1 players.

In fact, Endrick’s goal tally is as many as he managed in 40 outings for Madrid, and it remains to be seen whether the Brazilian will have a part to play for his parent club.

He put pen to paper on a six-year contract in 2024, having commanded a reported €60m transfer fee from Palmeiras, but Endrick did not rule out a permanent exit from the Estadio Bernabeu.

Asked if his loan could be extended beyond this summer, particularly if Lyon reach the Champions League, Endrick told Canal Plus Foot: “I really don’t know.

“If I have to return to Real Madrid, I’ll go back there gladly. If I have to go elsewhere, I’ll go elsewhere.”

After Saturday’s 3-2 win over Auxerre, Lyon are third in Ligue 1 on 57 points, level with Lille and just ahead of Rennes in the race for Champions League qualification.

The Opta supercomputer has assigned Lyon a 35% chance of playing in UEFA’s flagship competition next season, with Lille (50.2%) better fancied in the season simulations.

Lyon have not played in the Champions League since 2019-20, when they reached the semi-finals before being knocked out by Bayern Munich.

“I really hope we can take Lyon to Champions League qualification, where it belongs,” Endrick added.

Lyon have won three of their last four league games (D1), with their final three matches of the season seeing them take on Rennes, Toulouse and Lens.
