Sigalagala Polytechnic booked their place in the KRU Nationwide quarterfinals after a dominant 31-3 win over Tum Marine in a round of 16 clash played at the Sigalagala grounds.
The hosts started brightly, settling early nerves with a penalty just four minutes into the match. Benjamin Brill stepped up to slot the kick for a 3-0 lead. Tum Marine had a chance to respond soon after, but their penalty attempt went wide.
Sigalagala extend
Sigalagala extended their lead midway through the first half, with Brill once again on target from the tee to make it 6-0.
Despite spending a period under pressure, Sigalagala struck against the run of play. In the 39th minute, Brill crossed over for a try and converted it himself to stretch the lead to 13-0.
Just a minute later, hooker Shem Apudo finished off a brilliant kick-and-chase move for another try, with Brill adding the extras to hand the hosts a commanding 20-0 lead at the break.

Brill continued his fine form in the second half, opening the scoring with a penalty as Tum Marine were reduced to 14 men following a yellow card. He added another penalty 10 minutes later to further extend the advantage.
Tum Marines managed to get on the scoresheet with a penalty, but it proved to be mere consolation.
Co-captain Stephen Wesa sealed the win for Sigalagala with a corner try with about 15 minutes to play, and Brill converted to cap off a convincing 31-3 victory.
