Snoeberger’s Closing Eagle Forces Playoff, Leads to Indianapolis Open Victory

Indiana Professional Golfers Association. Indianapolis, Ind. May 12, 2026

On two beautiful spring days at Broadmoor Country Club, amateurs and professionals from across Indiana gathered at one of Indianapolis’ most historic Donald Ross layouts for the 2026 PGA Indianapolis Open. With a full field to start Monday’s opening round, the championship brought together some of the top players in the state and quickly produced the kind of scoring that made it clear the title would have to be earned.

The first round saw plenty of strong play, with players posting scores of three, four and five-under-par throughout the day. But it was Dave Pugh who separated himself from the field in the afternoon wave, firing a 7-under-par round to take a three-shot lead into Tuesday’s final round. Following Monday’s play, the field was cut to the low 60 and ties, setting the stage for a smaller final-round field and a competitive finish at Broadmoor.

Tuesday brought another ideal day for golf, with sunny skies and temperatures climbing into the mid-70s by late afternoon. The final group of Titus Boswell, Peyton Snoeberger and Pugh teed off with plenty still to be decided. Pugh began the day with a three-shot advantage, but as the final round unfolded, several players made moves up the leaderboard. Pugh ultimately finished the day at 1-over-par, moving back to 6-under for the championship, while the chase for the title tightened behind him.

One of the biggest moves of the day came from Michael Davan, who began the final round at 1-under-par before delivering one of the best rounds in Broadmoor history. Davan tied the course record with a 10-under-par 62, carding birdies on Nos. 1, 3, 5, 9, 13, 14, 17 and 18, along with an eagle on No. 12. His closing stretch pushed him to 11-under for the championship and gave the leaders still on the course a clear number to chase.

Snoeberger, who had built momentum with a strong finish to his opening round, answered with a bogey-free final round of his own. He made birdies on Nos. 3, 4 and 9 to turn in strong position, then added another birdie on No. 12. After seeing Davan’s number posted at 11-under, Snoeberger knew he needed something special over the closing holes. He responded with a birdie on No. 17 and then delivered the shot of the tournament on No. 18, chipping in for eagle to force a playoff.

“Yeah, it was a good finish,” Snoeberger said. “I knew where I was. Going into 16, I was 8-under, and I knew Michael had finished at 11, so I knew I had to make something happen coming in. I was able to get up and down from the bunker on 17 and then hit a really good shot into 18 that just kind of trickled over. Obviously, I was able to chip in there, so I had to give it a run. I’m just happy it went in.”

Snoeberger and Davan returned to the first hole for the playoff, where Snoeberger’s steady play proved to be the difference. Davan found the rough on the right side and faced a difficult recovery, while Snoeberger kept himself in position and made par to secure the victory.

Snoeberger said his mindset entering the final round was built on the momentum he created late Monday, when he played his final four or five holes at 4-under-par to stay within reach of the lead.

“I finished really well yesterday,” Snoeberger said. “I kind of built some momentum going into the day. I knew there were some birdies out here, especially once you got to that back nine. I just knew I had to kind of get there, and then once I did, I was able to take advantage.”

The final leaderboard reflected the depth of the field, with several amateurs finishing near the top at 8-under, 7-under and 6-under-par. But after two days of strong scoring, a course-record tying final round from Davan and a dramatic birdie-eagle finish from Snoeberger, it was Snoeberger who walked away with the 2026 PGA Indianapolis Open title at Broadmoor Country Club.
