Chad Gable is officially heading back to WWE TV as himself, following his incredible mask vs. mask match last week.
According to Fightful Select, Chad Gable is set to return on this week’s episode of Friday ight SmackDown in Italy under the Chad Gable name after wrapping up his run as the Original El Grande Americano.
“Chad Gable is back on WWE TV. Chad Gable is set to return on this week’s episode of WWE Smackdown, under the Chad Gable name. He will address his history as El Grande Americano and have segments with Rey Fenix, Fraxiom and others.”
Chad Gable’s masked run ended on May 30 at AAA Noches de Los Grandes, where he lost a Mask vs. Mask match to Ludwig Kaiser’s El Grande Americano and was forced to unmask. Fightful noted that Gable will address his history as El Grande Americano on SmackDown and is also expected to have segments involving Rey Fenix, Fraxiom, and others.
This marks a major shift for Gable, who last wrestled on WWE television as himself in the summer of 2025 before undergoing surgery. He has also used other aliases in WWE before, including Shorty G. JBL recently praised Gable and Kaiser’s AAA match, even calling Gable the best wrestler in the world.
“I think Chad Gable’s the best wrestler in the world, and I don’t think it’s close. That was absolutely amazing what he and Kaiser did.”
Now, Gable’s return to SmackDown gives WWE a chance to move him forward after one of the strangest and most talked-about runs of his career. After losing the mask in AAA, Gable is coming back with a ready-made story and plenty to explain.
