Table Tennis England teams up with CIMSPA to strengthen coaching pathway

Table Tennis England has taken a major step forward in coach development after announcing a new partnership with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

The collaboration will see CIMSPA become the professional endorsing body for Table Tennis England’s coaching qualifications and wider workforce development programme, helping to raise standards and strengthen recognition across the sport.

By aligning its learning and development offer with nationally recognised professional standards, Table Tennis England aims to ensure coaches at every level benefit from high-quality training and clear progression opportunities.

As the first milestone in the partnership, the Coaching Assistant Qualification has already achieved full CIMSPA professional endorsement.

This recognition confirms the qualification meets the required professional standards and provides a strong entry point for those starting their coaching journey, supporting the delivery of sessions across the game.

Work is already under way to secure endorsement for both the Coach and Head Coach qualifications, creating a clear and structured pathway for coaches to develop their skills and progress through the sport.

Alongside qualification endorsement, Table Tennis England will align its Continuing Professional Development programme with CIMSPA’s standards.

This will give coaches greater access to recognised learning opportunities while helping them stay up to date, maintain professional competence and continue improving throughout their careers.

Evie Collier, Table Tennis England Coach Learning & Development Manager, said:

“Our partnership with CIMSPA represents a significant step forward for coach development within table tennis.

“It demonstrates our commitment to providing high-quality learning opportunities that are aligned to nationally recognised professional standards and support lifelong development.

“The endorsement of the Coaching Assistant Qualification is an important milestone, but it is just the beginning. We are working towards creating a fully aligned coaching pathway, where qualifications, continuing development and professional recognition combine to support coaches throughout their careers.

“Through this partnership, we can continue to raise standards, strengthen our coaching workforce and ultimately create even better experiences and opportunities for players across our sport.”

The partnership marks an exciting new chapter for Table Tennis England, reinforcing its ambition to build a highly skilled, well‑supported and professionally recognised coaching workforce for the future.
