There has been growing speculation within wrestling circles regarding a potential WWE return for Enzo Amore and Big Cass — now known as AEW’s Big Bill — over the past several days. The discussion gained momentum earlier this month when WrestleVotes reported that WWE has interest in reuniting the former tag team.
Shortly afterward, reports surfaced that Enzo had been spotted at the WWE Performance Center during a recent NXT taping. Amore, who currently performs under the name Real1 on the independent scene, has stopped accepting future bookings. Sources also indicated that Big Bill’s contract with AEW is believed to expire either at the end of May or sometime in early June.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided further insight into the situation. As we previously reported here on eWn, Enzo Amore is expected to begin with NXT in the near future. However, nothing involving Big Bill is official at this stage. While there has been considerable speculation about the AEW star’s future, his name is not currently a major topic of discussion internally within WWE. It’s kind of a waiting game to see what happens with AEW.
Big Bill has been absent from competition since the April 6, 2026 edition of ROH, while his last AEW television appearance came during a Collision taping in early February. It was noted that long absences during a contract year naturally fuel speculation about departures, but this is not always an indication that someone is leaving.
Meltzer referenced Chris Jericho, who disappeared from AEW television for an extended stretch last year, sparking rumors that he was headed back to WWE once his contract expired. Instead, Jericho ultimately resurfaced on AEW programming in April. Powerhouse Hobbs is another name who was prominently featured on television and even held the AEW World Trios Championships before deciding against signing a new contract and eventually moving to WWE.
Enzo Amore and Big Cass previously enjoyed significant success together during their first run with WWE. Amore’s tenure ended controversially in 2018 after he was released amid sexual assault allegations. Big Cass was also released that same year, ending his seven-year run with the company in June 2018.
