Tommy Fury again crossed over to the world of Misfits Boxing, and had to go the six-round distance to take a majority decision win against Eddie Hall in their heavyweight exhibition battle in Manchester.
The contest was billed as David v Goliath, with Fury outweighed by over 108 pounds by former World’s Strongest Man, Hall who had previously boxed once before, and taken part in an MMA bout.
The size difference was enormous, and Fury, who’s older brother Tyson was watching on from ringside, was caught by the 38-year-old in the opening round as he elected to tire out his rival rather than go for an early win.
The visitor was getting up close and attempting to rough ‘TNT’ up, and the second saw him club Fury until the referee separated the pair.
The home favourite then sprang into action in round three, landing a body shot and putting his combinations together, and this started to turn the tide for him.
The 27-year-old’s output was rising, and his jab was now coming into play, but he still ate a big shot in the fourth that sparked the crowd into life, although it was only one blow against multiple ones from Fury.
Hall was now taking a lot of punches, while taking in a lot of breath too as his tank emptied, but in the final frame, he made one last bid for glory as Fury went back into defence-mode, landing with a couple of eye-catching punches and then ambushing Fury on the ropes as the round and the fight came to a close.
One judge scored the fight 57-57, but scores of 59-56 and 58-56 saw Fury the winner, as he was then confronted by Chase DeMoor post-fight.
Taylor-Floyd ends in controversy
Elsewhere, the light heavyweight title fight between Anthony Taylor and Matty Floyd was ruled a no-contest, as the pair fought the ugliest of bouts, and although Taylor seemed to quit, complaining that his eyes were burning, the referee declared the contest void.
Remaining Undercard
Ibiza Final Boss was a winner on the card, defeating Jordan McCann via majority decision in their light heavyweight four-rounder.
Big Stacks was stopped by Armz Korleone in their heavyweight encounter, which was bizarrely limited to body shots after Stacks was involved in a brawl with McCann earlier in the week which damaged his jaw.
Jade Jones and Sheena Bathory both won their fights to set up a potential meeting, with Jones knocking out FederiKita in two rounds, and Bathory scoring a first-round knockout against Tina Snows, both at cruiserweight.
At middleweight, Swarmz defeated Biel with a second-round knockout, and Adam Brooks won all four rounds against Rahim Pardesi at light heavyweight.
In preliminary action, Khallas Karim won a unanimous decision against Luke Nevin in their light heavyweight clash, and Little Betsy was a points winner against The CrAsian in a middleweight bout over four rounds.
