Triple H Allegedly Refused To Put Over D’Lo Brown During WWE Attitude Era

Vince Russo just dropped a wild old-school WWE story about Triple H and D’Lo Brown, and it paints D’Lo as one of the easiest guys in the locker room to work with.

During the Coach and Bro Show, Russo was asked what he remembered about D’Lo from the Attitude Era. Russo didn’t hesitate, saying D’Lo was a total company guy who never caused problems and always did what was asked of him. Then Russo said there was one time he actually wrote Triple H to put D’Lo over, and Triple H was not having it.

“I remember DLO was such a freaking company guy. Uh it was so easy to write for DLO. So easy to book for DLO. And coach, I swear, bro, I’ll never forget this. And I don’t even know if I’ve told this story. I don’t even know if DLo knows this story. I was the writer of the show and I wrote in the script for TripleH to put over DLO Brown.”

Coach was stunned by the claim, but Russo kept going and said he personally called Triple H out over the issue.

“And TripleH had a problem with it and wouldn’t do it. And coach, I read Triple H the freaking riot act. I said, ‘Bro, he has put you over 97 times. And the one single time when I want you to put him over, you’re going to have a problem with that.’”

Russo said the situation stuck with him because D’Lo was the kind of performer who would put anyone over if that was what WWE needed.

“I will never ever forget that because, bro, if you would have asked DLo to put your grandmother over, DLO would have put your grandmother over, bro.”

That is a pretty heavy claim from Russo, especially considering how much D’Lo Brown gave to WWE during that era. Whether fans agree with Russo’s version of events or not, it shows how much respect he still has for D’Lo’s attitude and work ethic.
