Former UFC champion Tyron Woodley isn’t holding back.
In a wide-ranging interview, Woodley made a series of bold predictions about the future of the UFC — from rising stars to potential superfights — including a massive claim about Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson.
Speaking to TalkSPORT BET, Woodley said Steveson won’t just succeed in MMA — he’ll dominate.
“He Destroys Tom Aspinall”
Woodley believes Steveson has championship potential immediately and could even dethrone heavyweight king Tom Aspinall.
Gable Stevenson will become UFC champ – he destroys Tom Aspinall
If true, it would mark one of the fastest rises to the top in UFC history.
Topuria Compared to McGregor
Woodley also made a huge statement about Ilia Topuria, predicting he could surpass the global fame of Conor McGregor.
Ilia Topuria will be bigger star than Conor McGregor
He didn’t stop there — Woodley also expects Topuria to dominate dangerous contenders.
Topuria beats Gaethje within two rounds – Gaethje’s been hit too many times
Strong Opinions on White House Card
Woodley also weighed in on the rumored “White House card,” and didn’t mince words about Josh Hokit.
Josh Hokit will add ‘gallons of cringe’ to the White House card
He also suggested a favorable matchup for Michael Chandler:
Michael Chandler should have easy fight at White House card – like Bobby Green
Jake Paul, Ngannou, and Diaz
Woodley gave surprising takes on crossover fights involving Jake Paul.
Jake Paul has a better chance of beating Ngannou than Anthony Joshua
Jake Paul beats ‘slow’ Nate Diaz in MMA bout
Other Key Predictions
Woodley also touched on several major names across the sport:
No one should tell Israel Adesanya when to retire
Sean Strickland won’t solve the Rubik’s cube of Khamzat Chimaev
Why This Is Getting Attention
Woodley’s comments stand out because they challenge current narratives:
- Backing an unproven UFC newcomer to dominate the heavyweight division
- Predicting a new global superstar could surpass McGregor
- Taking controversial stances on crossover fights
Whether fans agree or not, one thing is clear — these predictions are sparking debate across the MMA world.
Tyron Woodley: ‘Future champion’ Gable Stevenson ‘tortures’ Tom Aspinall, Josh Hokit will add ‘gallons of cringe’ to the White House card, and Jake Paul has a better chance of beating Ngannou than Anthony Joshua
Gable Stevenson will become UFC champ – he destroys Tom Aspinall
Gabe Stevenson will become heavyweight champion. He can do it this year if he wants to. Tom Aspinall will get tortured by Gable right now. Tom looked sloppy against Ciryl Gane before he got poked in the eye. Gable has got powerful hands, all his fights are finishes. He has crazy wrestling, crazy athletic ability. He’s hungry. You think he’s still happy about losing the NCAA championship in the last 3 seconds? Hell no. I don’t see a matchup in the UFC now at heavyweight that he does not win.
Ilia Topuria will be bigger star than Conor McGregor
I think Topuria will become bigger than Conor. He made a deal with Richard Mille. He partnered with Cristiano Ronaldo. He got Spain on lockdown, and now he’s beating all our legends, our GOATs, our BMFs, our champions. He’s walking through everybody and telling us he’s gonna do it before he does it. Then he does it. He doesn’t talk that much, he doesn’t dispute that much, even his personal issues he kept quiet. He’s clean, he got his suits on, he’s training hard, and he’s a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point person who speaks perfect English and perfect Spanish. He’s the biggest star.
Josh Hokit will add ‘gallons of cringe’ to the White House card
What does Josh Hokit add to the White House card? Hokit is seven gallons of cringe in a five gallon jug. That stuff is annoying. And you know he’s been at home practicing that stuff thinking the people are going to love it. They are not going to love it. Nobody wants to hear that stuff. But was it worth it to get a spot on the White House card? Probably.
Hokit gets on my nerves. The fight was good, but when a fighter like that wins, I’m like, “oh no”, now he gets a microphone and starts nuking corny-ass lines.
Jake Paul has a better chance of beating Ngannou than Anthony Joshua
I know Jake Paul won’t be hesitant in facing Ngannou. I think that’s why they are having Francis do the MMA thing on Netflix. Jake will be the better boxer than Francis but the power is going to be a problem. Jake Paul has a way better chance of beating Ngannou than Anthony Joshua. You gotta be still for Francis to hurt you. But Francis has got power. But we don’t know how Jake reacts coming back from his injury.
Jake Paul beats ‘slow’ Nate Diaz in MMA bout
Jake versus Nate in MMA? That’s a good fight but It’s gonna be the same as the boxing match. Nate looks too slow and doesn’t have any power. Jake’s gonna be hitting him with MMA gloves, not boxing gloves, so the impact is gonna be louder. I can’t really see Nate knocking Jake down or taking him down, so how’s he gonna even use jiu-jitsu? Do I think Jake beats Nate in MMA? Unfortunately, yes.
Topuria beats Gaethje within two rounds – Gaethje’s been hit too many times
Unfortunately, I say it’s a second round fight. Gaethje’s very tough, but he’s just been hit too much, man, I’mma be real. His fight style is to just come and brawl. We forget that he’s a Greco all-American wrestler. But when is he ever gonna use wrestling? There’s been a lot of fights where he should have utilized wrestling. He hasn’t, and he’s not. He can, but he won’t.
Is there a puncher’s chance? Yes, because he’s smart. It looks a little messy, but he’s one of the best. Him and Yoel Romero are two of the most underrated IQ fighters, because they shift their weight real fast without you knowing, and they transfer so much power so fast. That’s why they’re always so dangerous.
No one should tell Israel Adesanya when to retire
I don’t even like Adesanya, but I really respect him when he said, “I’m heartbroken, but I lost, and it happens.” One day you whooping ass, and next day you wake up and you take them losses. No non-fighter, nobody besides their family or coaches should ever input on whether a fighter should retire or not. That conversation is not for the people that don’t do the work.
Let him do what he want to do. If you want to keep fighting, he’s still a great fighter, he’s just gotta realize, these kids have been watching him for five years, studying him, shadowboxing against the TV while he’s fighting somebody else.
Michael Chandler should have easy fight at White House card – like Bobby Green
Chandler fights last minute, fights injured, he fights a lot. He’s exciting, he’s tired, he’s gonna give max effort. Even if, strategy-wise, he comes up short. I don’t like the Ruffy fight for Chandler. I like an easier fight for Chandler. I think he earned it. I don’t think he should be in all these fights where you gotta keep proving what he already proved. I think he should be rewarded for all his behavior; accepting fights at last notice, fighting injured, and fighting guys like Paddy Pimblett where he was building their brand. I feel like he should be getting Bobby Green or someone like that.
Sean Strickland won’t solve the Rubik’s cube of Khamzat Chimaev
Strickland is not going to know how to solve the Rubik’s Cube of Khamzat. He can’t.
I would try to make it a fight like Forrest Griffin made it when he won this title. He just made it really messy, and just tried to get him tired. And I do think Khamzat is gonna get tired.
He needs to weather the storm, keep jabs and volume punches on him, and then try to push him and get into his head a little bit, annoy him a little bit. I give him a chance. You ain’t never gonna count a person like that out. He’s not going there thinking he’s losing. I promise you that.
As goofy as he is, right, look at the way he fights people. And he’s good at mental games.
