Val Venis Says MJF Should Take Over Triple H’s Role After Retirement

Val Venis has gone from ripping MJF to calling him the best pro wrestler in the business, even going so far as to say he prefers MJF over Triple H.

Venis took to Twitter and completely changed his tone on the AEW star. After previously attacking MJF’s drawing power, mocking his viewership, and comparing him to Attitude Era names, Venis said he now believes MJF is the best wrestler in the business. He even said that if he were running a major wrestling company, he would put MJF at the top of the card and eventually place him in a major leadership role.

“📢 𝙋𝙊𝙇𝙇: It is my current opinion that MJF is the best pro wrestler in the business. If I were to run an organization like WWE or AEW or NJPW or CMLL or AAA, I would run MJF at the top of the card or top storylines until he retired, and then have him go into retirement with the duties HHH currently sucks at. There I said it. MJF over HHH.”

Venis then explained why he now sees MJF so highly. In his view, MJF’s passion for wrestling separates him from Triple H, who Venis accused of being more interested in power than the business itself.

“FACTS: The passion MJF exhibits for the pro wrestling industry exceeds any passion HHH has for power. Triple HHH loves power. MJF loves wrestling!”

That is a major shift from Venis’ previous comments, where he blasted MJF as someone who could not draw like Attitude Era stars. In that earlier rant, Venis mocked MJF’s viewership and said he should not be dragging his name.

“🤼‍♂️ Let me get this straight. The SOTE (Salt of the Earth); pushed by a billionaire’s broadcast machine; can barely draw 600,000 viewers per week on a good week, yet he tries to drag THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND… The Big Valbowski, Val Venis?”

Venis also compared his own WWE run to MJF’s current spot, pointing to the much larger audiences of the Attitude Era. The feud got even more personal when Venis brought CM Punk into it and claimed he had a better record in that comparison.

“SOTE is out here attempting to drag a man who was performing week in and week out in front of 5 to 8 million viewers on Monday Night Raw during the greatest era in wrestling history, the Attitude Era; while also tearing it up on multiple house shows across the country, night after night for YEARS. The midget Hebrew who lost to the commie CM Punk is trying to drag the MAN who not only put CM Punk on the map but remains UNDEFEATED against him. STOP! When you grow up and break a million viewers consistently like the legends of the Attitude Era, then I might take notice. Until then… keep my name out your mouth, kid.”

Now, Venis is suddenly praising MJF as the kind of wrestler he would place at the top of any major company. Whether this is a genuine change of heart, another attempt to stir the pot, or just Venis leaning into the online chaos, it definitely flips the entire situation.

Bottom line: Val Venis went from mocking MJF’s drawing power to saying he would put him ahead of Triple H in a leadership role. That is one wild turnaround, and it may only give MJF more reason to fire back.
