Glenn Phillips was visibly upset after being run out during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024 Eliminator between Colombo Strikers and Kandy Falcons at R Premadasa Stadium on Thursday (July 18).

Glenn Phillips’ frustration in LPL 2024 Eliminator

The incident occurred in the third over of Colombo’s innings when Angelo Mathews bowled a length ball that Phillips guided towards the cover fielder. The fielder quickly returned the ball to the wicketkeeper. Phillips attempted a run, but his partner, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, remained at the non-striker’s end, avoiding the risky single. Following the dismissal, Phillips threw his bat in the air, near the dugout, and finally towards the dressing room. Phillips had been Colombo’s leading run-scorer in LPL 2024, amassing 252 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 140.78, including three half-centuries.
