It’s been a few weeks since LA Knight has been on WWE TV. The Megastar was last seen on the Raw after WrestleMania in a backstage confrontation with Gunther. Reports are that WWE planned a post-WrestleMania program between Gunther and LA Knight. Inevitably, Creative pivoted to a program between Gunther and Cody Rhodes, leaving LA Knight without a story. On last night’s Raw, future LA Knight plans may have been teased during the Ethan Page and Penta promo exchange. Here’s the latest on LA Knight’s WWE future.
Ethan Page Challenges Penta to Saturday Night’s Main Event
The Intercontinental Title scene continues to heat up as Je’Von Evans, Rusev, and now, Ethan Page, all vie for Penta’s Championship. Rusev and Je’Von Evans tried to take Penta’s IC Title in a Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42 Sunday, but both competitors came up empty-handed. On the other hand, Ethan Page is a fresh contender in the Title scene, debuting on the Raw after WrestleMania 42.
On last week’s Raw, Ethan Page teamed with Rusev to defeat Je’Von Evans and Penta. All Ego got the pin over Penta following an Ego’s Edge. Naturally, the former NXT Champion came out to remind Penta of this feat, challenging the luchador to a Title Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Penta agreed to take on Ethan Page, any time, anywhere. Before they could lock in an agreement, Rusev interrupted to stake his claim at the Championship. This declaration brought out Je’Von Evans, leading to a match between the former WrestleMania opponents. The Bouncy One got the win over The Bulgarian Brute, much to the delight of the crowd.
While Ethan Page threw down the challenge, it is unclear if Penta will defend against the greatest Canadian of all-time, or if it will be a multi-man match. Although the IC Title scene is getting set into place, another feud seems to be brewing. Reports are that Ethan Page’s challenge also indicated future LA Knight plans.
Ethan Page vs. LA Knight Plans In Motion?
During Raw from Knoxville, Ethan Page issued a challenge to Penta for Saturday Night’s Main Event in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The most obvious things that All Ego said revolved around the challenge itself. However, it seems like the former NXT North American Champ left some breadcrumbs for a future match against a 2-time United States Champion.
Ethan Page’s challenge to Penta may have teased future LA Knight plans:
“You are a man of your word, and I’ll give you that. Look at you. You are a fighting Champion. You’re ready to go right now!
Me? I am not. I don’t think you understand what Championship you hold, buddy. That’s the Intercontinental Championship.
That’s the token of excellence in all of WWE. Every Megastar in this company’s history has had to hold that to prove their point.
And papi, you’re looking at the next Megastar. So, that Championship needs the spotlight it deserves. Just like me!”
As Ethan Page delivered his promo, he had an extra emphasis on the word Megastar. That’s the nickname for the glass ceiling-banging LA Knight. It looks like these two brash-mouthed Superstars could be on a collision course to determine the true Megastar of WWE.
The Constant Changing of LA Knight Plans
Being an LA Knight fan can be akin to being a Browns fan or Mets fan. You keep hoping for the best, but something always seems to go wrong. This storyline played out on WWE Unreal on Netflix. In fact, LA Knight’s reactions to his consistently bad booking have become things of meme lore.
Even leading into WrestleMania, LA Knight didn’t have clear plans. He was even considered to face Brock Lesnar at one point. Inevitably, LA Knight teamed with The Usos to open WrestleMania 42 Saturday to face iShowSpeed, Logan Paul, and Austin Theory.
The next night, The Megastar had a tense backstage chat with Gunther. Gunther was fresh off his victory over Seth Rollins and mentioned that Paul Heyman owed him a favor, indicating that The Ring General wanted a World Title Match soon.
This declaration drew LA Knight into the room. The Megastar took The Ring General to task for needing Bron Breakker’s help to defeat Seth Rollins. Fresh off his own WrestleMania victory, LA Knight told Gunther he wants a shot at the gold, too.
The WWE hasn’t followed up on this storyline. Instead, Paul Heyman secured Gunther a match against Cody Rhodes at Clash In Italy. In the meantime, LA Knight hasn’t been on television, leaving some worried that he would be a victim of roster cuts.
Will LA Knight Enter the Intercontinental Title Scene?
Megastar fans, no need to worry yet. LA Knight is still with WWE. While his road has been rocky, it looks like LA Knight will enter a rivalry with Raw newcomer Ethan Page.
WWE Creative is toying with the idea of Ethan Page winning the IC Title to enter a program with Knight. After all, Page noted that men win the IC Title to prove their worth as a Megastar. The Intercontinental Title is one that has eluded LA Knight during his roller coaster career.
