What’s on this week? LIVE athletics from Athens, St. Polten, and Ljubljana-Kamnik

Three events will be streamed live on the European Athletics channels this week, including full and comprehensive coverage of the European Off-Road Running Championships in Ljubljana-Kamnik, Slovenia, from 5-7 June.

Filothei Women’s Gala – Athens (GRE) | WACT Bronze

When: 3 June

Live streaming from 16:45 CEST on the European Athletics website (geoblocked in Greece).

World bronze medallist Angelina Topic from Serbia will be aiming for her third victory in the high jump at this meeting. She won in 2023 and 2024 but had to settle for the runner-up spot on countback behind Great Britain’s Morgan Lake last year.

Ekaterini Stefanidi also continues her comeback from maternity in the pole vault on the road to the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham from 10-16 August. Stefanidi has won medals at the last five editions including gold in 2016 and 2018.

Other names who have already been announced include Romania’s 2023 world bronze medallist Alina Rotaru-Kottmann and Serbia’s Milica Gardasevic in the long jump and Cuba’s Davisleydi Velasco in the triple jump.

Liese Prokop Memorial – St Polten (AUT) |  WACT Bronze

When: 4 June

Reigning European javelin champion Victoria Hudson is one of the leading Austrians in the spotlight at a meeting named after the late Liese Prokop, who became her country’s first-ever European champion in 1969.

Other Austrians to watch include 2024 European discus silver medallist Lukas Weisshaidinger and national record-holder Markus Fuchs in the men’s 100m.

Reigning European U23 100m champion Karolina Manasova from Czechia and 2019 European U23 triple jump champion Necati Er are among the notable international entrants. Er faces world finalist and Austrian record-holder Endiorass Kingley in the triple jump

European Off-Road Running Championships – Ljubljana-Kamnik (SLO)

When: 5-7 June

Live streaming on day one from 10:00 CEST, day two from 9:00 CEST and day three from 9:00 CEST on the European Athletics YouTube channel.

The cream of continental off-road running will descend and ascend on the stunning Slovenian mountain range of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps for the third edition of the European Off-Road Running Championships across the weekend.

Fans of this spectacular mountain and trail running disciplines will have 10 races to enjoy across senior and U20 age groups.

The record-breaking entry of 593 athletes from 33 countries includes Sweden’s Tove Alexandersson, a multiple world champion in both trail running and orienteering; Switzerland’s Maude Mathys, a twice European gold medalist in mountain running; and the experienced Italian Cesare Maestri — a world and European medalist in mountain running.
