Chelsea’s players haven’t had much of an impact at the World Cup so far, but all eyes are on Reece James.

We’re desperate for Thomas Tuchel to treat our captain carefully – we all know how fragile he is, and another serious injury would break our hearts.

We were wincing to see him play the full 90 minutes of the opener against Croatia, and even more amazed to see him doing the same against Ghana last night. Now the Daily Telegraph are reporting that James “felt something” in the draw, and will be “checked” in the build up to the game against Panama at the weekend.

From a Chelsea point of view, we’re desperate to see James left out for Panama. England’s failure to win last night means they can’t go for full rotation in that game – but if anyone was to miss out, we’d hope it was James. They can win without him, and it’s far more important to have him fresh for the knock-out games.

Let’s hope Tuchel agrees with that view.

In other news…

Marco Palestra is coming to Chelsea – we’ve got the confirmation from Fabrizio Romano we were all looking for.

Jacobo Ramon is another Serie A defender who seems to be interesting the Blues, although they’re not as close to a deal for him.
