In something of a coup for Kunos and Supernova Games Studios, current WRC driver Jon Armstrong has joined the development team for Assetto Corsa Rally, it was announced today (27th April 2026).

Armstrong, who drives a Rally1 Ford Puma for M-Sport in the WRC, has been providing driving feedback on the game since March, helping shape its future direction in terms of physics and handling.

Although some of Armstrong’s results have been disappointing in his debut top-class campaign, his performances have greatly impressed the paddock, especially during Rally Croatia, where the Irishman set a string of top-three stage times.

Not only does Armstrong bring years of international rally experience to the table, but he was also previously a Game Designer at Codemasters, bringing a wealth of practical development know-how to his present role.

He also has prodigious sim racing pace: Armstrong is a former WRC Esports champion (2018), and regularly uses Richard Burns Rally to prepare for real-world events.

Coincidentally, Armstrong is in a relationship with rally media specialist Hollie McRae, daughter of the late WRC legend Colin McRae. He even swapped seats to co-drive for her during her debut rally last year.
