WWE fans in Cincinnati just got hit with a bad surprise.
The scheduled WWE Friday Night SmackDown taping set for September 4 at the Heritage Bank Center has been canceled. Fans who bought tickets through Ticketmaster are now being told they will be refunded.
The Ticketmaster listing for the event now says the organizer pulled the plug on the show. The notice also tells fans they do not need to do anything to get their money back.
“Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”
“You don’t need to do a thing. We’ll issue a refund to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer. It should appear on your account within 14-21 days.”
That is never the message fans want to see, especially for a WWE SmackDown taping that was already on the calendar. The weird part is WWE’s own website still has the September 4 date listed for Cincinnati. So, either WWE has not updated its schedule yet, or something changed fast behind the scenes and the public listings have not caught up.
There is also no word yet on what city WWE will run that night instead, or whether the company will move the SmackDown taping to a different market entirely. For now, Cincinnati fans are out of luck, and refunds are on the way. WWE has not announced a replacement location for the September 4 SmackDown taping as of this writing.
At the end of the day, a canceled WWE taping always raises questions, especially when Ticketmaster says one thing and WWE’s website still shows the date. Until WWE clears it up, fans are left waiting to see where SmackDown lands next.
