Nice train stations with cool walls
Hoxton station has some great tile work going on – think portugal meets a space station and you start to get the idea.
Cargo bikes
There are a lot more cargo bikes riding around east london. Families with multiple children as well as small businesses using them to schlep around stock and orders as well. I like seeing them around too.

Hoxton Market regeneration

Hoxton Street Market, located in the heart of Hoxton in East London, remains a historic yet evolving focal point of the area, dating back to the 17th century. In the last 2–3 years, regeneration efforts led by Hackney Council have focused on revitalising the market and surrounding streets, including upgraded public spaces, new planting, improved walkways and the introduction of better infrastructure such as power for stalls and refreshed gazebos. These changes aim to make the market more lively, accessible and community-focused, while supporting independent traders and keeping it affordable.
Today, the area attracts a mix of long-standing working-class residents, young professionals, creatives and students, reflecting the wider gentrification of East London. The market itself blends traditional East End character with contemporary influences, offering street food, vintage goods and independent design. Its location is a major draw: it sits just north of Shoreditch, within easy reach of landmarks such as Old Street and close to the City of London, placing it at the intersection of historic working-class neighbourhoods and modern urban redevelopment. This proximity, combined with ongoing regeneration, has reinforced Hoxton’s reputation as a vibrant, evolving part of London with deep cultural roots.
Boys with long hair
I have noticed a lot more boys with long hair. I am not sure whether it is just becuase my son has long hair, but there are definitely way more boys wearing their hair long in pony tails or just loose. I have asked my son Max if he wants his hair cut almost every day for years and the answer is always a straight NO!
