Adam Azim and Steve Claggett prepare to battle under Queensberry Rules this weekend, with the latter delving into the machinations of the matchup. On May 30th in London at the OVO Arena Wembley, the 24-year-old undefeated pro boxer Azim looks to earn a victory over someone many could call his most experienced and high-level foe so far. Claggett has taken part in fifty professional bouts, where he previously fought Teofimo Lopez for a world title, albeit in a losing effort.
That being said, Claggett has made it publicly known that his toughest fight took place on July 28th, 2018, as he fought Petros Ananyan in a scrappy affair that saw him win after being dropped to the canvas earlier in their Brampton-based bout. In terms of looking at this fight, in a way where he could only truly figure this out once he’s actually in the ring for it, when asked where Adam Azim ranks in terms of pedigreed opponents he has fought in his career, Claggett said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Well, he’s definitely going to be up there. I mean, he’s fast, he’s sharp, he’s pretty tall, but a man’s a man. So, in the ring is where you really figure it all out. But I always found that you can’t put the guy that you’re fighting up on this big pedestal because it’ll create this mountain to climb. The only thing that matters is how you show up. As long as you show up at your very best, that’s what you can do. That’s what I’ve done.”
Adam Azim will face “a lifetime of hard work” and will get Steve Claggett’s best on May 30th
Further espousing upon what he sees under the microscope when analyzing Adam Azim ahead of Saturday’s clash, Claggett continued [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“That’s what I’m preparing to do. That’s what I’m going to do. I fought the very best in the world. So, I can’t wait to show what I’ve been working on. I’m going to bring my best. All due respect to Adam. I know he’s coming. I know he’s going to bring his best. But this is a lifetime of hard work and dedication that I’ve spent on this career and this path that I’ve been on. I’m going to bring my absolute best on the fight night.”
“That’s what I can do. That’s what I can promise. That’s what I’m excited to showcase when the time comes. So when the bell rings, you’re going to see my best.”
