Liverpool revert their attention to the Premier League and the race for a top four finish when they face rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday afternoon.
Arne Slot’s side exited the Champions League at the hands of holders Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, with the French champions running out 2-0 winners on the night and 4-0 victors on aggregate.
The Reds have failed miserably in their bid to return the Premier League title, and now face a season without silverware following their exit from Europe.
Off the pitch, though, it is emerging that the Merseyside outfit have been handed a boost in their pursuit of an England international.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool target Anthony Gordon is keen to leave Newcastle United during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The report claims that the Reds are interested in the forward, who previously played for rivals Everton before moving to St. James’ Park in 2023.

Since his move, Gordon has scored 39 goals and registered 28 assists in 152 games for the Magpies across all competitions, as well as establishing himself as a key player for England.
It is claimed that Liverpool have already made contact with the player’s representatives, with Gordon himself regarding Liverpool as his dream destination if he were to leave the North East.
Liverpool could face fierce competition in the race to land the Englishman, though, with German champions Bayern Munich also said to have carried out work on a possible move for the player.
Bayern are said to have identified the 25-year-old as their top target to bolster Vincent Kompany’s squad on the left flank, although Gordon is likely to prefer a move to Anfield.
Gordon’s current contract with Newcastle is set to run until the end of the 2029/30 season.
