According to multiple sources, Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta over the proposed transfer of Ederson. United will pay an initial fee of £35million for the services of the 26-year-old, with further £4million to come in the form of performance-related add-ons.
The 20-time English champions have been linked with the Brazilian midfielder for a while, and they’ve now taken advantage of Atletico Madrid’s hesitation in their own pursuit of the player to secure a replacement for Casemiro. Ederson is therefore poised to become the first signing for the Red Devils since the appointment of Michael Carrick on a permanent basis.
Ederson is expected to sign a four-year contract with United, with an option for it to be extended by a further year.
Since joining Atalanta in 2022, Ederson has made a total of 180 appearances in all competitions for the Italian club, with 16 goals and six assists to his name. He played a crucial role as Atalanta won the Europa League in 2024, his only major trophy so far.
