Diaz (21-13 MMA) most previously competed in mixed martial arts at UFC 279 in September of 2022, where he scored a fourth-round submission victory over Tony Ferguson. That triumph was proceeded by back-to-back losses against Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal respectively.
Meanwhile, Mike Perry (14-8 MMA) will be competing in mixed martial arts for the first time since suffering a unanimous decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez in April of 2021. Since then, ‘Platinum’ has turned his attention to Bare Knuckle Fighting, where he has gone a perfect 6-0 under the BKFC banner.

Round one of tonight’s MVP MMA 1 co-headliner begins and Mike Perry charges in with a right hand. Nate Diaz with a kick to the body. The Stockton native with a pair of jabs. The fighters clinch and ‘Platinum’ lands a big elbow and then a knee. Diaz scores a judo throw, but Perry is able to take top position. Nate looks for an arm bar and then dives on a heel hook. Mike Perry escapes and tells Nate Diaz to return to his feet. Perry with a hard body shot. Another one and Diaz is clearly hurt. The fighters clinch for a moment and Diaz breaks free. A big body shot again from Perry. A big left hook from the BKFC standout. Diaz with a front kick to the body and then a jab. Five straight jabs from Nate Diaz. ‘Platinum’ swings and misses with a huge right. A nice 3-punch combination in return from Mr. 209. A good left hand from Perry connects. He rips the body, but Diaz forces the clinch. Big elbows from Perry late. Diaz with a pair of jabs. The horn sounds to end round one.

Round two of MVP MMA 1 co-main event begins and Mike Perry comes out quickly with big shots. Nate Diaz sticks a jab. A superman punch from ‘Platinum’. Now a hook to the body. Perry with a right hand. Diaz with a pair of jabs and now a right hook. The fighters clinch. Perry misses with an elbow. A big uppercut from Perry. Nate replies with a pair of jabs. Both men are bleeding. Another jab from Nate. He’s covered in blood now. Mike Perry has his hands down. He clinches and then takes the back of Diaz. The Stockton native breaks free with two minutes left in the round. He throws a front kick and then a jab. A big right and then a knee from Perry. Diaz goes to the ground. Mike follows him there and lands some shots. Now he tells Nate to stand up. One minute remains. Mike Perry rips the body of the former UFC title challenger. Nate Diaz looks to answer but eats a hook. A big knee and Diaz goes down. He’s badly hurt. We will see if this goes to round three.
