Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will fight on the undercard of Conor McGregor’s rumored return to the cage.
Cody Garbrandt returned to the win column with a gritty win over prospect Xiao Long earlier this year at UFC 326. Before UFC 326, Garbrandt lost back-to-back fights to Raoni Barcelos and Deiveson Figueiredo, and seemed to be closing in on a potential impasse in his UFC career.
But after defeating Long, Garbrandt is right back in the mix at 135 lbs and could potentially earn a Top 15 spot with another win or two in the Octagon. The former UFC bantamweight champion is looking to reclaim the form that saw him earn wins against the likes of Dominick Cruz, Takeya Mizugaki, and Thomas Almeida.
As he looks to go on another win streak, Garbrandt will fight in a fan-friendly matchup against one of the bantamweight division’s most dynamic boxers on a card rumored to be Conor McGregor’s return to the Octagon.
Cody Garbrandt vs. Adrian Yanez added to UFC 329 lineup
As first reported by MMA Fighting, Garbrandt and fan favorite Adrian Yanez will clash on the UFC 329 undercard on July 11th, the promotion’s International Fight Week event. While nothing has been formally revealed regarding McGregor’s comeback date, UFC CEO Dana White hinted that an announcement is imminent.
Yanez returns to the Octagon looking to pick up his first victory since May 2024, a first-round TKO victory over Vinicius Salvador. He lost a controversial split decision to Daniel Marcos in December 2024, was sidelined in 2025, and returned to the Octagon and fought to a split draw with Ricky Simon in March.
Like Garbrandt, Yanez is looking to pick up a signature win after a blistering start to his UFC career. After winning his first five fights in the Octagon, featuring finishes of Tony Kelley and Gustavo Lopez, the Dana White’s Contender Series alum lost bouts to Rob Font and Jonathan Martinez.
The full UFC 329 fight lineup is expected to be finalized and announced in the coming weeks.
